Analysing Kai’s work

Kai uses an exaggeration to show that iPhone is the best and uses that when he says ‘dominates the world, world domination’. This would show that Kai believes the iPhone is the best and uses a hyperbole as a tool of argument.

Person two also uses the world “Wasteman”. This world is an insult to say to that person that they do nothing with their life or nothing much. In this case, it was used to insult the camera person about they can’t do anything else with their life so they have to film person one and two having their conversation about the iPhone and the Samsung.

  1. I like your attempt to explain “wasteman”. I think young people create idiom like that sometimes so that they can get away with insulting each other without using words that they know adults will condemn them for. Nonetheless, the part I still question is whether the person speaking really thinks the person he’s talking to ‘can’t do anything else with their life’. You’ve stumbled upon the complex dynamic of insults used to reinforce friendship – or something like that.

Your written expression in this paragraph is a real improvement. You’re paying attention to the finer details which makes a real difference.

    Great.
